August 8 @ 12:00 pm - August 13 @ 12:00 pm
AstroBlast is a regional star party held by the Oil Region Astronomical Society since 1994. The dates for this year's AstroBlast will be from noon Wednesday, August 8th, through noon Monday, August 13th. Early registration for the event will begin in late March, when a pre-registration form will be posted on this site. We expect to have a full schedule of speakers on Friday evening and Saturday, as well as some of our traditional AstroBlast activities, such as the swap meet. Our new 30 inch f/3 Starstructure Newtonian reflector telescope with a mirror by Mike Lockwood will be open for viewing for AstroBlast participants on Friday and Saturday nights. This event provides dark skies within a reasonable drive of locations in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and Western New York. Campers may set up their own telescopes and equipment adjacent to their camp sites on the field. Power is available at the observatory and multipurpose buildings for recharging batteries. Nearby bike rail trails and hiking opportunities.
Cost will be provided on our website in March. It will be competitive with other regional star parties.
